Description

Subscribing to a philosophy of “Active Data Governance”, members of Daman’s Information Governance practice focus on activities that operationalize principles and automate tasks that contribute to managing the integrity and use of our client’s data assets. . This role will drive conformance in the definition of data assets, their quality metrics, the system of record and other metadata attributes. The steward will analyze and oversee strategies designed to enhance data reliability and minimize redundancies. The steward is responsible for developing and implementing data standards, guaranteeing metadata is captured correctly, and creating methods for monitoring and reporting any data incidents. Furthermore, this person may monitor application personnel to ensure they are following data governance procedures. They may also create and maintain common data dictionaries and the tools or methods that support data standards.

Responsibilities
  • Define and coordinate standardization of definitions, business rules, and business usage for critical data elements, attributes, metadata, list of values, and reference data, working with business data stewards and data custodians.
  • Define and review data exception reports and work with the respective business area and team to understand how the change will impact business processes and downstream uses of the data.
  • Identify, document, and manage data quality issues and/or improvement opportunities. Define appropriate metrics to measure the quality of the data in terms of fit for use.
  • Define process, frequency, and responsibility for measuring data quality as defined. Assist with preparation of data quality assessments and publishing assessment results.
  • Define acceptable levels of quality for each metric and any business rules associated that may indicate business process issues or the need for steward policy.
  • Work with business data stewards to identify and document business terms and data dictionaries. Promote the use and reference of the data dictionary by the business data stewards, business analysts, programmers, and database administrators.
  • Drive report consolidation program to consolidate key reports and data sources to reduce duplication of work and risk exposure
  • Build consensus with business stakeholders to establish report ownership and accountability for key reports
  • Identify report consumers and establish strong working relationships with both report owners and consumers to enable key report governance and management
  • Build key report metadata and co-ordinate ongoing report metadata maintenance
  • Lead discovery and documentation of data lineages for key reports
  • Establish periodic completeness and accuracy recertification procedures for high-risk reports
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for key reports
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Applications, Information Systems or Engineering is required
  • 5 years of direct experience in Data Governance and/or BI Reporting roles
  • Demonstrated experience documenting business workflows, change management procedures, and data quality processes are required.
  • Experience with at least one data stewardship technology: IBM IGC, Collibra, or other. 
  • Knowledge and ability to develop and perform data manipulation, data cleansing, data analysis, and data anomalies detection.
  • Experience with SOX and audit compliance is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Applications, Information Systems or Engineering is required.
