Description

Subscribing to a philosophy of “Active Data Governance”, members of Daman’s Information Governance practice focus on activities that operationalize principles and automate tasks that contribute to managing the integrity and use of our client’s data assets. This person will function as a liaison between the Information Governance team and various application teams. You will partner with other architecture disciplines to ensure alignment with published architecture and governance standards concerning how business information (HR, Finance, Sales, Product, etc) is created, stored, persisted, and managed. This role will be critical in driving the maturity of the Information Governance and Management practices within the various enterprise functions and business units.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and organization of enterprise data (or information) as a high-quality, certified, and shared business resource or product.
  • Consult with Data Stewards in various business units to identify data assets that are suitable for enterprise exchange, help record and register the assets, ensuring they meet qualification criteria 
  • Work as a bridge between Data Stewards in the business units and the IG organization to negotiate information sharing standards, guidelines, and agreements. 
  • Serve as an evangelist for the information governance program, communicating the value of information exchange.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for Data Stewards in the business units to help them evaluate their data assets for compliance with information governance standards 
  • Assist with establishing data lineage and with the data certification process/ review in a highly regulated environment.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience in the financial, banking, and/or insurance industry  
  • 5+ years’ hands-on experience in data management with an emphasis on data governance, data quality, and metadata management
  • Information stewardship experience – either being a steward or working closely with stewards 
  • Ability to understand the need for and process of data certification.
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. management, peers, and colleagues) with proven ability to develop collaborative approaches and negotiate compromises.
  • Confident communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exposure to data warehousing and management reporting projects/initiatives.
  • Experience with a data governance toolkit: IBM IGC, Collibra, or Alation. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Applications, Information Systems or Engineering is required.
