At Daman, we work hard to make sure that “the client owns the solution.” That means in-depth training to help ensure complete self-sufficiency with a full understanding of the technology and how to maintain and manage it.

Our training includes intense, one-on-one mentoring and the effective transfer of knowledge through carefully designed classes and general instruction. We can also mentor your project and task leaders through one or more full development cycles.

Training includes both comprehensive methods training and specialized training programs.

Data warehouse methods training

Daman uses a well established training curriculum to orient clients at the initiation of projects and then to provide basic data warehouse training to client staff members throughout the life of the project. Similar to the Daman Step-by-Step methodology, this tested curriculum was originally developed for The Data Warehouse Institute (TDWI) in the 1990’s. It is still used in foundational training at TDWI events, and our senior principals continue to act as trainers. The Daman curriculum includes:

  • Data Warehouse Step-by-Step™ Series
Data Warehouse Step-by-Step (SBS) Core Course; SBS Data Design; SBS Acquisition and Preparation; SBS Production Management; and SBS Consumer Techniques.
  • Data Warehouse Seminars
Overview of Data Warehousing; Data Warehouse Design Principles; Justifying Your Data Warehouse Investment; Organizing and Staffing the Data Warehouse Project; Information Discovery in the Data Warehouse; and Web Delivery From Your Data Warehouse.
  • Architecture Series
VITAL Information Architecture; VITAL Technical Architecture; An Architected Approach to Data Warehouse Design.
  • Design Series
Data Design; Real-time Architectures; Self-Service BI; and Daman Standard ETL Architectures.

Specialized training on customer infrastructure and architecture

As we build out a solution, we mentor client staff, develop documentation, and provide knowledge transfer through both one-one sessions and formal classes. Training is structured at three levels:

  • Management – Data warehouse overview, organizational structure best practices, and architectural best practices.
  • Technical – Specific training on architecture (ETL, data model and reporting) and tools training in these areas.
  • Users – BI infrastructure usage and information retrieval.
